Ten Ways To Involve Your Children in Your Home Business

Own your own home business? Is your family involved in it? Sometimes, it seems easier to just do everything yourself. The down side of this attitude is, your family feels isolated from your life and vice versa. You have two choices: DIY, or get the family involved.

You’ve got hundreds of things to do and not enough hours in the day. Make it easier on yourself and let your family help you. Try some of these ideas – you’ll be glad you did and so will your family.

The Spouse: Maybe this isn’t your idea of a good way to spend time with your significant other – but it beats not spending time with them. Work at it, and you’ll find they’ll become your biggest supporters.

Toddlers: There isn’t too much they can do right now, but as they get older you can let them do small odd jobs – sharpening pencils or licking stamps and sealing envelopes. As they get older, give them more challenging things to do. Kids feel a real sense of pride knowing they’re helping out.

Teens: The BEST group to involve in your business. Better they be at home with you helping out than getting into something else that might not be so good for them. If you started them early, they’re already on the same page. If not, then surprise them and give them something to do they wouldn’t expect you to ask them – type a letter, make a call to place and order. If they know you have confidence in them, they’ll take pride in what they are doing for you.

If your teen happens to be crafty or gifted in some area, then involve them in their area. For instance, if your teen is good with a computer, have them create your web site and maintain it. If they happen to be good at making something, give them their own page on your web site and sell what they make. You’d be surprised at how involved they become when there is pride of ownership involved.
