Making the Most of Your Day
Actually, if you stop to think about this
– you really can’t manage TIME. The only thing you can manage is YOU. Let’s
cover some things you can do to make the most out of YOU and your day.
Don’t make excuses and break your
promises. If you can’t do what you say you’re going to do, the rest doesn’t
matter. Build your personal reputation/identity. It has a direct correlation
to the value the marketplace gives you. If you work on it, it will work for
you.
The marketplace is filled with hundreds of
people trying to sell things. Your competition! It’s overwhelming. Relax!
Remember that old saying, “it’s who you know?” Use that to your advantage.
Long-term good solid working relationships with powerful people are a “must
have” investment of your time. Also remember this – again based on a slight
twist of the who you know adage – not only is it who you know, but who knows
you.
Are you up to facing the challenges of
delivering what you are offering? This is crucial. Managing YOU and how you
use your time will increase your ability to deliver now and in the future.
Now this may all sound very self-serving – and to a point it is! But –
there’s another component you need to practice here – making a difference.
Find the time to make a positive difference to the world you work and play
in. Ignore what the Jones’s are doing and just do something good.
Part and parcel of making the time to do
good and empower yourself is to make a difference in the lives of the people
around you. Help them get to a higher level any way you can. It’s time well
spent. Think of the benefits now and later. Networks are incredibly valuable
tools, but you need to be an active contributing member.
Never stop learning – even if it’s only
five minutes to scan an article in your field. Make sure it’s relevant to
the current YOU. If it isn’t – learn to let it go.
